PROSPECTUS MOUNTAIN HERITAGE ACADEMY

INTRODUCTION:

Mountain Heritage Academy affiliated to ICSE and ISC board New Delhi, was established in 2003 with a noble intention to impart quality education in English Language to replace old traditional chalk and talk method of teaching by creating dynamics and interactive learning method coupled with modern technology of teaching aid. At present the school is running from cradle school ( age group 1 to 2 years), pre Nursery (2 to 3 years) and Nursery to class XII. Academic session generally starts from the last week of February and ends by 2nd week of December with three terminal examinations for Primary section and two terminal examinations for secondary section.

LOCATION:

The school is situated on the fir-clad spur of the Great Himalayan foot -Hills i.e.” Queen of Hills- Darjeeling” at Sukhia Road, P.O. Ghoom,7402 feet above sea level, 8 km south of Darjeeling Town and nearly 100 meters east of world’s second highest Railway Station GHOOM. The school building stands on such a place which is aloof from the hustle and bustle of town. Healthy and invigorating climate coupled with peaceful, pellucid, calm and panoramic surroundings has created a suitable environment for the school.

OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the school is to bring all round development in the children by shaping and molding the tender mind and brain with the help of experienced, trained, loving and caring teachers so that when they will enter the world which is full of competitions, after completing their formal studies can adjust and adapt themselves to stand on their own feet. Mountain Heritage Academy believes that education does not only mean to get bookish knowledge and pass an examination or enter into a profession but also to step into the present day world fully equipped in body, mind and spirit to live a healthy life and let the other live.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admission is taken from pre Nursery and Nursery to class XI. The School looks mainly into the discipline of the students who seek admission in higher sections, i.e. from class V to XI. Admission Form can be taken from the school office on working days during working hours or can also apply online through ……….for admission . Date and time of the admission test will be informed to the students at least two weeks before the date of test.

Documents Required:

Two colour passport size photograph of the student.

One photocopy of the birth certificate of the student.

One photocopy of the Aadhar card of a student ( It is not mandatory for students applying for class Pre Primary), Father and Mother ( For Indian citizens).

Transfer certificate / result of final term examination of previous school, ( Migration certificate is needed if students are applying for class XI)One family photograph.

STAFF

The school has appointed qualified, trained, sincere, dedicated and hardworking teaching staff and non- teaching staff . The number of teachers appointed are more than actually required by the school, to maintain the teachers student ratio as low as possible to facilitate individual care and attention to the student.

INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING

To meet up the criteria laid down by the ICSE Board New Delhi, the school building has been constructed in such a way that it can full fill most all the necessities of the students. All the class rooms are well ventilated, bright, and specious, each measuring more than 400 square feet in floor area with a big green board fixed in each class.

SMART ROOM

Now a days, it has become imperative to use modern teaching aid while teaching. To enable the teachers to teach the student audio visually, a smart class has also been installed. Remarkable improvement has been seen among the students when the teachers teach them using such modern teaching aids.

COMPUTER LAB

ICSE board has made compulsory all the schools affiliated to ICSE board, to make a computer lab with a minimum of 45 computers in it with Wi-Fi connection. It is obvious too that without the knowledge of computers present day man is considered to be illiterate. So to make the students equipped with the knowledge of computers and to follow the rule of ICSE Board as well, the school has made the computer lab having all kinds of facilities and made computers as one of the compulsory subjects.

PREFECT

The school has four houses- Orchid (Green), Daffodil( Yellow), Anthurium (Red), and Blue Bell (Blue). Houses are named after the flowers to let the students know about the beauty and importance of nature. By dividing the students into four groups the school can organize a large variety of activities amongst the students and foster learning the values of relationship and leadership among the students , between teachers and students and human relationships as a whole.

SCHOOL MAGAZINE

“ EXPRESSION” is the school magazine, which publishes yearly. It is produced jointly by the students and the staff . The magazine contains records of the year’s activities and number of articles of general and literary interest.

ACTIVITIES

To make the students develop physically, mentally and spiritually, large varieties of activities are organized . Activities include Indian classical dance, Modern dance, Arts ( Drawing), Music, Quiz, Elocution, Debate, Art & craft, Clay Modeling, Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Martial Arts ( Taekwondo). With the permission from the parents the selected students are taken to participate in various level of competition such as District level, State levels and National Level etc.

LIBRARY

Regular Library class has been arranged to take the students to the Library to develop the habit of reading and keep the students updated about the latest happenings in Nation and the world as a whole by providing varieties of newspapers , magazines and periodicals. Sufficient number of books of moral values, literary values, educational values, historical values, scientific values, socio economic importance and political importance are stocked in the library.

SCIENCE LABORATORIES

To inculcate the interest of science and technology among the students and to make them understand the science practically with fun the school has made four separate science laboratories of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Robotics. These laboratories are well equipped with modern practical instruments. According to the school’s routine the students are taken to these laboratories .

Hostel

For those students who want to join Mountain Heritage Academy as boarders, a separate Hostel facility for boys and girls has also been provided.

TRANPORTATION

Transport facility has also been provided for those students who come to Mountain Heritage Academy from the surrounding area of 15 KM radius of the school .
